LES GIrls Club- Sign up needed asap

2017 kicked off with a bang here at the Girls Club with a new session AND brand new classes for your girls to enjoy. We've introduced classes like "Wearables" which mixes sewing and technology to "GoYa" which exposes girls to yoga. There is still space in classes throughout the week! Classes include dance, sewing, hip hop, animation,  radio podcast, cooking, photography and more. For more information visit https://www.girlsclub.org/.

STEM Matters NYC 2018 Spring Break Animal Care Internship (10-12th Grade)- Spring Recess Program

Ideal candidates are City high school students who appreciate and respect animals, multitask efficiently, and are enthusiastic about learning. Students selected for the Animal Care Internship will work with directly GESC staff members to feed, clean, and care for animals and their homes. The internship is free, and interns will receive MetroCards for transportation as needed.

To apply, students should have one of their parents/guardians visit the Internship Application’s website by Friday, February 9, 2018, and submit an online application. Prospective interns will then be required to interview for their position and submit a Teacher Letter of Support.

Moth All City SLAM Team- Deadline 9/25/17

If you enjoy writing and performing stories, apply to the Moth All City SLAM team, an out-of-school performing arts project. High school students from all over New York City meet to practice and perform Moth stories every Saturday for 8 weeks. The program ends with a performance for friends, family and fans. Details:

One of our Artistic Directors (Meagan or David) will conduct the audition. They will go to the front office and ask to see you when they arrive.

Who should come:

Anyone 13-19 yrs old who wants to create positive change in their lives and communities. No previous performing experience is necessary.

What students should expect:

A low-pressure group audition. Everyone will dance a little, sing a little, and act a little. There are no judges, and students don’t have to have ANY performing experience whatsoever.

The Photography Program- Meeting in room 300 after school Tuesday, Sept 26th from 3:30-4pm

The Photography Program is starting back up again! If you want to learn more about photography, meet photographers, go on trips to see shows & to photograph around the city, this is the program for you. Celebrate at the end with a showcase at the Apple Store in Soho. If you are interested, come to a short meeting in Leigh’s Room 300 after school next Tuesday Sept 26 from 3:30-4pm.

Creative Writing Club- Meeting Monday 9/25 at 3:30pm in room 314

Creative Writing Club! Next Monday 9/25 at 3:30 in room 314 (Athena’s room) we will have the first official meeting of the Creative Writing Club. This club is meant to exercise and grow the minds of young creative writers. We provide students with prompts to write about. At the end of the year, students get the opportunity to see their hard work published in a creative writing journal which will be distributed in the school libraries.

Vanderbilt YMCA Teen Center

Our program is a free program to all high school students and we offer a majority of programs. The programs our Teen Center offers are our weight room, pool, Leadership Club, Teens Taking the City, Step/Dance, Basketball and many more.
